My Story

As a 22-year-old poet and changemaker, Victory started his journey as an 11-year-old member of the Vision of The Child (VoTC) project superintended by the Nobel laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka. Over the years, he has emerged as a multi-award-winning spoken word poet, youth advisor to the European Union, climate leader, Lagos state youth ambassador, global youth ambassador of Theirworld, and a member of the young people’s action team of UNICEF Generation Unlimited.

He is a graduate of English Literature from Lagos State University and a certified Leadership Fellow from the Management Institute of Finland in Helsinki. He is artistically inclined with a passion for oratory. His artistic and literary prowess has earned him laurels, certifications, and autographs from prominent dignitaries. Victory is not just an artist, he’s a social impact maker and a dynamic spoken word performer known for his high-energy performances.

Victory emerged as the poet laureate of UNICEF Generation Unlimited for United Nations General Assembly 2024 in New York and FAO for World Food Forum in Rome, Italy in 2022. He is a 3x TEDx performer, a millennium fellowship alumnus, SME100 Africa 25under25, Prize for Young Person of the Year nominee by The Future Awards Africa and he has been recognized as an awardee at the Global Planeteer Wind Summit of Captain Planet Foundation in the United States. He is also a creator on UNICEF voices of youth platform and has received the Lifetime Carbon Offset(LCO) Award by The Climate Trust.

He has garnered almost a decade of experience from performing and working with organisations nationally and globally, including United Nations, UNICEF, FAO Headquarters, British Deputy High Commission, Italian Consulate, Lagos State Government and such others. He is an ambassador of Dawn Project Network and the convener of Mega Changemakers Conference that has impacted over a thousand changemakers.

 

He served as president of Literary Voice Club, vice-president of LASU Debate Society, represented Lagos State University at Nigerian International Tertiary Institutions Model United Nations (NITIMUN) and emerged as the Best Delegate of Peace Building Committee. He uses performance poetry, creative art and his transformational leadership for social reengineering.

He currently holds the title of Storifest National Poetry Slam Champion, GenZ Innovator of the Year by Purpose Drive Global, Speakpro National Public Speaking Champion, Young Person of the Year issued by BSMA, Winner of Wikipedia Creative Challenge, Light-Up Africa Development Initiative Challenge and he was crowned a winner of the Antarctica Experience Challenge for malaria elimination in Africa

The vision that propels Victory Ashaka is hinged on his principle that says “Every small action of impact we make multiplies if we all do it.” Victory’s artistic mantra is to serve humanity through social impact and to be a beacon of hope for others seeking their paths.
